This year’s tax penalty is $695 per person or 2.5% of your yearly household income. This is an increase from last year’s penalty of $325 or 2% of your yearly household income. Alert Covered California by calling (800) 300-1506 or by emailing consumerprotection@covered.ca.gov. The Office of Consumer Protection will track and investigate complaints and refer to law enforcement as appropriate. Identity theft is against the law and is punishable by imprisonment and fines.
