Information on Service Adjustments During the COVID-19 Emergency

HHS is the County’s largest department with more than 700 employees who work at many sites throughout Marin. Many HHS offices have reopened with limited staffing to the public. Staff will continue to provide services remotely when possible for safety reasons, and residents in need of HHS services should consider conducting conversations over the phone or email when possible. Please call ahead if you have an appointment or require in-person assistance.

  • HHS created a phone hotline, (415) 473-7191 (CRS 711), and an online contact form, for residents to contact staff with questions or concerns about the virus and about the county and community response. The call center is open from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. weekdays, and interpreter services are available.

Accredited Caregiver Specialists

A San Francisco registry agency, ACS offers affordable homecare services and provides qualified pre-screened caregivers in all parts of the Bay Area. We also offer caregivers who are fluent in Spanish, Tagalog, Cantonese, and Mandarin. All of our caregivers are experienced in caring for the elderly. Below is a list of services ACS caregivers provide: · 24/7 care, answering the door and the phones, taking deliveries · Cooking in accordance with nutritional guidelines and culture · Meal planning, Food inventory, Grocery shopping, expiration checks, dietary log · Meal clean-up, wash dishes · Housekeeping, vacuuming, dusting, sanitation, and infection control · Household organization by rooms, changing sheets, making bed · Laundry and change of bed linens · Assist in morning wake-up, clothing selection, dressing, and evening tuck-in · Community program involvement, current events, news · Grocery shopping, record food and fluid intake · Transportation: medical appointments, errands, and excursions · Companionship, mental acuity exercises, conversation, reading, games · Write letters and correspondences, organize mail and bills · Look after pets and houseplants · Facilitate healthy TV habits, create and maintain activities log and calendar · Arrange visits for socialization with family, friends, and neighbors · Correspondence, celebrating birthdays · Develop family scrap books with key dates and events · Personal hygiene, grooming, skin care, bathing, showering, shaving · Oral/mouth care, Denture care · Assist with bedpan, urinal, commode, diapering · Reposition bed-bound clients to help prevent skin sores · Assisting with walking and transfers, active range-of-motion activities.
