Hospice by the Bay

The non-profit Hospice by the Bay is the second oldest hospice in the nation and the first in California. We provide comprehensive hospice and palliative care for patients, support for their families and caregivers, and grief counseling to anyone coping with loss in the counties of Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo and Sonoma, and the cities of American Canyon, Napa and Vallejo. We are certified by Medicare and Medi-Cal and accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC). Most patient costs are covered through health reimbursement from Medicare, Medi-Cal and private insurance. Charitable contributions from individuals and corporate donors, and sales from our San Rafael and Novato thrift stores and Used Book Room in Corte Madera also benefit the agency's programs and services, enabling us to say that no hospice-appropriate patient is ever turned away, regardless of ability to pay.
