The Nutrition Wellness Program manages the Healthy Eating Active Living Initiative (HEAL) funded by the County of Marin and the Nutrition Education & Obesity Prevention Program funded by the USDA Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. In an effort to reduce chronic disease, the program utilizes policy, systems, and environmental change strategies to create healthy places to live, work and play. The Nutrition Wellness Program helps low-income communities increase access to healthy foods, beverages and physical activity through a variety of free services, including:
- "Fruit and Veggie Fest" (ENG/SPN) on May 19th, which includes "Calfresh in a Day!"(ENG/SPN)
- Nutrition education classes and events
- Train the trainer workshops for community leaders to teach nutrition education
- Rethink Your Drink campaign to decrease access to and consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages
- Social marketing to help promote healthy communities
