Our Work: Promote Physical Activity for all
The Nutrition Wellness in Marin county works with the community bringing resources for healthy eating and active living. In an effort to reduce chronic disease, the program utilizes education and policy, systems, and environmental change strategies (PSE) to create healthy places to live, work and play. The Nutrition Wellness Program supports low-income communities with strategies to increase access to healthy foods, beverages and physical activity through a variety of free services, including:
- Nutrition, physical activity, and garden education classes (discover my plate workshops) and events
- Train the trainer workshops for community leaders to teach nutrition education, policy, systems and environmental changes (PSE) focusing on food security
- Social marketing events to help promote healthy communities
