Programs and Services

Prevention

Primary prevention services are designed to foster safe and healthy environments for individuals, families and the greater community, positively affect community norms and attitudes, and increase awareness and knowledge about alcohol and other drugs thereby influencing incidence and prevalence of problems within the community.  For additional information, visit the Marin Prevention Network and BHRS Prevention and Early Intervention websites.

 

Screening and Assessment

Screening and Brief Intervention, along with Referral to Treatment is a comprehensive, integrated, public health approach to the delivery of early intervention and treatment services for persons with substance use disorders, and those who are at risk of developing these disorders.

Treatment

Treatment programs in Marin offer services ranging from DUI programs, screening and assessment, detoxification, individual/family counseling, adolescent services, outpatient, intensive outpatient, residential (short/long term), perinatal services and medications for addiction treatment. Any pregnant woman who seeks or is referred for and would benefit from services are given preference in admissions to treatment facilities.

Mental Health and Substance Use Services (MHSUS) changed its name to Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS).  As such, all references in existing departmental policies and procedures to MHSUS can be understood to reference BHRS as well.
