The County of Marin, Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS), aims to enhance our capacity to provide comprehensive and evidence-based treatment services to individuals with early psychosis. Proposed Services are designed to meet the developmental needs of young people experiencing early psychosis. This population includes those who have never been treated, those who have recently had a first psychotic episode, or those who have been treated only for short periods with anti-psychotic medication. These clients are particularly vulnerable to dropping out of services and benefit most from Early Intervention. According to SAMHSA and NIMH, the identified evidence-based treatment for those experiencing early psychosis is a “Coordinated Specialty Care” (CSC) approach. CSC teams are highly recovery-focused, “youth friendly”, collaborative, and specialized in treating early psychosis.
