Under direction of the Mental Health and Substance Use Division Medical Director, a half time child psychiatrist, two part time psychiatrists and a bilingual Spanish speaking mental health nurse practitioner provide assessments, prescriptions, and on-going medication support to approximately 150 individual children and youth. Some of these children are receiving therapy from agencies in the community and come to the county for medication support and others are referred from county programs.
Mental Health and Substance Use Services (MHSUS) changed its name to Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS). As such, all references in existing departmental policies and procedures to MHSUS can be understood to reference BHRS as well.
