Information on Service Adjustments During the COVID-19 Emergency

HHS is the County's largest department with more than 700 employees who work at many sites throughout Marin. Many HHS offices have reopened with limited staffing to the public. Staff will continue to provide services remotely when possible for safety reasons, and residents in need of HHS services should consider conducting conversations over the phone or email when possible. Please call ahead if you have an appointment or require in-person assistance.

  • HHS created a phone hotline, (415) 473-7191 (CRS 711), and an online contact form, for residents to contact staff with questions or concerns about the virus and about the county and community response. The call center is open from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. weekdays, and interpreter services are available.

Alma Via of San Rafael (Elder Care Alliance)

130-unit 3-story Assisted Living/Alzheimer’s Dementia Care Community, located one block south of Northgate shopping mall. 108 Assisted Living month to month rentals (studios, 1 and 2-bedroom /bathroom, and kitchenettes) and 22 Alzheimer’s/ Dementia Care apartments in BridgeHaven Program. Four levels of care, including 24-hour assisted living and supervision and assistance with a variety of activities of daily living. Small pets OK. Arts and crafts, bridge, bingo, board games, trips, films, entertainment, holiday celebrations, socials, cultural presentations, exercise, strength training classes and spiritual programs. Trained activity staff, and a chaplain. Three meals a day in restaurant style dining room, weekly housekeeping and laundry, beauty salon/barber shop on-site, 24-hour staffing, emergency call pendants, scheduled transportation to doctor’s appointments and places of worship, shops, banks, outings. Alzheimer’s/Dementia Care program, shared suites with individual bedrooms and a shared bathroom or private studio apartments. All utilities included, DSL for internet access at no charge. Cable TV and phone service optional. Scheduled tours can include lunch or dinner if prearranged.
