Marin Transit Stop Change – Effective April 12, 2026

Starting April 12, 2026, the Marin Transit bus stop in the parking lot of 120 Redwood Dr. will move to a new location.

New stop location: Corner of Smith Ranch Rd. and N. Redwood Dr.

General Relief - Cash Aid for Individuals 

Help meeting your basic needs 

General Relief provides temporary cash assistance for individuals who have little or no money. It can be approved for up to 6 months in a 12-month period, and possibly longer for people with disabilities.  

Who may be eligible for General Relief 

  • Residents of Marin County intending to stay 
  • U.S. citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents, or residing under PRUCOL 
  • Adults aged 18 or older with no dependents (or less than 50% custody)  
  • Married couples  

We will review to see if you meet the income and resource limits of the program, including: 

  • Reviewing any money received
  • Cash and bank balances of $400 or less for an individual/$800 or less for a couple
  • Personal property of $600 or less for an individual/$1200 or less for a couple

You may qualify for CalWORKs instead if: 

  • You are pregnant 
  • Are caring for a child under 18 

Services you may receive can include: 

  • Monthly cash aid for General Relief, paid on an EBT card, to help pay for essentials such as food, personal items, or transportation 
  • CalFresh and Medi-Cal, if eligible 
  • Assistance through CalFresh Employment & Training program to prepare for and find a job 
  • Help with applying for Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
